The Addiction Counseling Competencies course is designed to explore the skills, understanding, and knowledge needed to provide effective, ethical, and person-centered substance use counseling services. Based upon the SAMHA addiction counselor competencies, this course explores the practical application of these competencies and how they strengthen the therapeutic relationship with a client.

Six (6) Continuing Education Units will be awarded to Addiction Counseling Competencies participants. This training meets the addiction treatment education requirements for ICAADA’s CADAC, ACIT and other clinical/treatment credentials. Peer Recovery Coaches should not take this course as CEU’s.
